Two local authors, Sue Whiting and Sandy Fussell had three books on the CBCA Young Reader's Notables for 2011.
The books were Sue Whiting's Get a Grip, Cooper Jones and Sandy Fussell's Jaguar Warrior and Samurai Kids Fire Lizard.
Sandy Fussell's sixth instalment of the Samurai Kids Series, Golden Bat, was released on 1st May 2011.
These unique series are about a special group of kids training in the ways of the samurai.
The American paperback version of Worldshaker will be released on 7th June 2011 with a new and exciting cover.
In November 2010 Bill Condon has won the $100,000 Prime Minister's Literary Award for young adult fiction for Confessions of a Liar, Thief and Failed Sex God, about a student at a Catholic boys' school in 1967. The judges said the book was a ''poignant, funny and deeply insightful rite of passage novel... The pain of first love and the ...morality attached to individual life choices is made contemporary in a work praised by the judges as one of tremendous honesty and integrity.''
Sandy Fussell's latest book releases
Sandy Fussell has had three book releases in the past year.
Two from the popular Samurai Kids series Book 4 Monkey Fist (August 2009) and Book 5 Fire Lizard (September 2010) and her new book Jaguar Warrior (March 2010) set in the Aztec period.
Sue Whiting's book, Get a Grip Cooper Jones, was released in August 2010.
Her children's book, A Strange Little Monster, illustrated by Stephen Michael King, was released in June 2010.
Another childen's book, You Wish JellyFish was released in May 2010.
The Firefighters children's book has been released in April 2010 as a paperback and big book edition. It has also been released in the US in August 2010.
The American paperback version of Worldshaker will be released on 7th June 2011 with a different and interesting cover.
